Fake Sleeves Don't Care

DIY Fake Sleeves High Waist Shorts YouTube Tutorial
With fall just around the corner, we're craving for any pieces that are made out of tartan or plaid fabrics. You'll often spot these wooly weave of Scottish tartan fabric at stores' shelves during this fall season, and it's definitely a great piece that is simply hard to ignore. What we most like about these types of fabrics is the interplay of colors and crossing lines in a weave. It portrays so many different ranges of characters from mysterious punk to classic schoolgirls, or an elegant aritsocracy.

We gave it a little twist by adding these fake sleeves on the side-seams of the shorts, which gives an illusion of having a shirt tied around your hip. We love the way how it adds another layer to the outfit. For the look, I'm wearing a white sleeveless tank top from H&M and a distressed denim jacket from CHICNOVA that fits me like a glove. The style-line details are what caught our attention and loved the fact that it's a 3/4" sleeves rather than a full length.

Beneath the Oxblood

DIY High Waisted Pocket Shorts YouTube Tutorial
If you ask any woman in the 70s to show what type of shorts she wore during the days, without a doubt, she'll pull high waist shorts out of her closet. These days, it's hard to walk into stores without seeing wide ranges of high waisted shorts or even skirts. They are flattering for most body types and can go effortlessly with almost any style. You can dress it up by wearing it with blouse or tailored blazers, go on full vintage with bohemian styled cardigans, or stick towards much modern style by pairing it with monochrome turtled-neck crop top.

For the outfits, I'm wearing this bohemian styled cardigan that has fringes on entire hem. The texture of the sweater is very friendly to the skin, and we're both in love with the ribbing details on the sleeves. We don't know about you, but when choosing cardigans, we tend to get the ones that fit nicely around the sleeves rather than the ones that are too long and loose. I guess it's because it looks more balanced with the overall oversized cardigan. One tip when wearing high waisted shorts is to tuck in your tops to emphasize the "high-waist" of your shorts. It will also help to create an elongated illusion.

Between 1st & East Street

DIY Skort YouTube Tutorial
From dungarees to oversized denim jackets, 90s trends are continuing to revive, and now skorts have returned and it seems they're going to stick around with us for this autumn. However, the skort of 2013 is nothing like the 90s. It has been polished and reinvented with sharp architectural hemlines that has this enveloped-styled asymmetrical cut. This DIY was one of the most highly requested projects from you guys, so we decided to fulfill your wishes!

Here I'm wearing a gorgeous white top with cutouts around the shoulder from Choies. It has this lovely lotus edged sleeves that instantly add romantic feel to the overall outfit. The flared sleeves are made of much heavier material when compared to the bodice, probably to achieve the voluminous look. One recommendation here is to get one in a one-size large than your normal size, because the shoulder width was a bit small for me. Nonetheless, hope you enjoy the tutorial!

Double Trouble

DIY Double-Slits Maxi Skirt Tutorial
Most of us are well aware of single split maxi skirts. But now, these skirts are taking the trend to the next level by making it double splits. It's hard to dislike maxi skirts, especially with their gifted camouflage effect that makes your legs so much longer than they actually are. In terms of colors and designs, the styles are limitless and surprisingly easy to wear. One note here is that, if you are plannning to wear your skirts mostly with high heels, make sure to consider the height of your heels when determining the length for your final skirts.
Jacket- Sheinside / Heels- Mart of China / Sunglasses- Vagabond Youth
As always, we coordinated two outfits with the skirt. Really, the only differences between the two outfits are change in the color of the jacket from Sheinside and the hair accessories. We especially loved how the lace material of the jacket and the eyelet details on the maxi skirts really made the entire looks cohesive. The skirt has built-in shorts inside for extra safety and comfort. it also has a metal zipper closure at the center back.
